Merrick Real Estate has partnered with Day One Energy to support its bid for the role of Fund Manager for the
UK’s Green Investment Bank Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency (NDEE) initiative.
Day One Energy (www.dayoneenergy.com) is headed by Steven Fawkes, Chairman, and Bayju Thakar, Chief
Executive. Its Non-Executive Directors include General Sir Mike Jackson.
The NDEE investment programme is intended to introduce new levels of energy efficiency into the UK’s
commercial property sector through an approach which combines technology, funding and management in a single
contractual arrangement designed to provide long term returns to investors, cost savings to commercial energy
users and contribute to the UK Government’s CO2 reduction commitments and green aspirations.
It is one of a number of investment commitments backed by the UKGI team, with £100m of initial funding being
made available, which is to be match funded by the selected Fund Manager(s).
In addition to investment capacity and professional fund management, the success of the initiative will also require
the Fund Manager to originate, develop and implement a wide range of projects across the public and private
sector property estates. This is where Merrick Real Estate will harness its relationships, knowledge and
experience in property and energy efficiency, to source, evaluate and deliver NDEE projects through
working with:
- Investors and landlords – major property companies and investment funds, and the management companies responsible for assets and portfolios
- Corporate occupiers – both those who own their properties and tenants across the office, retail and industrial sectors
- The public estate – Central Government and Local Authorities
A decision from UKGI on the selected Fund Manager(s) is expected on the 11 June.
